What happens when my child reads with Amira?

A smiling child wearing headphones beside a tablet in a Liberty County classroom

5-6 minutes per day

inside the reading time your child's teacher already has planned.

  1. session starts

    Your child reads aloud

The microphone opens, the child reads the passage that their teacher assigned, on a school-provided device, during the school day. Once the passage is complete, the microphone closes.

  2. A minute in

Amira identifies where the reading breakdowns occur

Amira pinpoints not only that a word came out wrong, but which sound inside it was incorrect and whether that same sound has been an ongoing challenge.

  3. Straight away

Help arrives while it still matters

Research shows the best way to course-correct is with timely, explicit feedback. Amira provides real-time feedback, while the sentence is still in the student's head, helping them make corrections in the moment.

  4. By the afternoon

    The teacher oversees everything

Teachers review what your child reads, where it went wrong, and next steps. Then teachers decide what to do. Amira never makes instructional decisions.

The microphone opens for the passage. For everything else, it is closed.

Student audio is analyzed for one purpose: understanding a student's reading progress. Audio can be turned off or deleted upon request.

The fox slept though the storm…

Try it in parts: th · ough. This one sounds like “oh”.

What their teacher sees

The sound

What happens next is the teacher’s decision, not Amira’s.

  • Listens to one passageStudents only read the passage  their teacher assigned, and nothing else.
Nothing ever listens in the backgroundThere is no always-on microphone. The microphone is only active when a student reads the passage or assigned activity.
  • Hears sounds, not meaningAmira is built to hear which sounds a child produced, not to understand what a child is saying.
Never makes a voiceprintNo biometric identifier is created from a student’s voice. Amira never produces a voiceprint, a voice profile, or any other biometric identifier.
  • Helps with the word in front of themAmira responds using short prompts written by reading specialists.
Never holds a conversationYour child cannot ask Amira a question, and Amira cannot ask your child anything that was not written into the program in advance by a reading specialists.
  • Tells their teacher what was heardAmira provides teachers with evidence to help inform the next instructional decision.
Never sold, and never used to advertiseAmira never sells student data.

Practice arrives in short bursts, meeting students where they are, with real-time support to get them unstuck.

On Average, students reading with Amira gained 9 weeks more reading growth in a typical 36-week school year, than students who did not.

45 weeks reading with Amira

36 weeks a typical school year

The school year is shown compressed, so the extra nine weeks is easier to see.

Forty-five weeks of progress against thirty-six, in an independent study.

How that was measured, and by whomSee the evidence

Simple,
really.

There is nothing to install and nothing to set up. No app on your phone, no password to keep, no device to charge the night before. This happens at school, on school devices, during the school day.

There is no homework. 5-6 minutes a day, inside the reading block your child's teacher already has planned, and practice that happens in the moment.

If you want to know how your child is doing, ask their teacher. They see everything Amira heard, and they are the one deciding what happens next. That is the whole arrangement.

Questions parents are asking.

No. Your child reads a passage out loud and hears short prompts about the words they got stuck on. There is no conversation in either direction, and Amira does not answer questions.
