Before the child begins reading, there is no open microphone. Amira is not listening in the background, recording the room, or capturing anything, anywhere.
Amira focuses on what's being read aloud
Whether completing an assessment or choosing a passage at their level for tutoring, Amira activates only while the student is reading, and nothing else.
During reading, Amira analyzes sounds, not meaning
Amira listens for how the child reads the words given: what was read correctly, skipped, changed, and where the child struggled. Amira cannot have a conversation, interpreting meaning, or listening for anything beyond the reading.

No biometric identifier is created from a student’s voice. Amira never produces a voiceprint, a voice profile, or any other biometric identifier.

Audio is securely processed only to understand how a student is reading. By default, Amira does not retain student audio recordings, unless a district opts into audio retention. The reading data Amira generates helps surface evidence of student performance, identify where support may be needed, and inform recommended next steps. Amira provides the evidence.
