Overview

Thanks to a special grant from the State of Arizona and Governor Ducey, all K-3 students have free and unlimited access to the first Intelligent Reading Coach in 2022. Amira is a Science of Reading web-based app that listens to students read out loud and delivers personalized tutoring and real-time feedback.  A TIME Magazine Best Invention of the Year, Amira is in use by 25,000 teachers and +400 districts and charter networks in 48 states, including IDEA Public Schools, KIPP Texas, Impact Public Schools and Rocketship Public Schools.

In research conducted by the Columbia Teachers College last year, 30+ sessions with Amira accelerated reading growth as much as giving a student high-dosage human tutoring. Columbia's findings confirmed studies done by Carnegie Mellon, DePaul, UBC and others, showing that Amira's intelligent tutoring doubles the rate of fluency growth for students in kindergarten through 5th grade.  Amira adapts to students based on their reading level, helps them find stories of interest, and delivers "micro-interventions" to accelerate reading mastery.

Thanks to the grant, Amira Practice is available to all K-3 Arizona students right now, complete with training and support, for no charge!   You can learn more and see Amira in action here. We ask that interested leaders complete this interest form as soon as possible.
