Dear Parent,

Thank you for your interest in Amira, the AI-powered reading tutor that listens to your child read aloud and provides expert help through customized stories, adventures and games.

In order to get your child started with our Amira service, you will need to consent to our collection of information from your child. Below we provide important information about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from your child to provide the Amira service. Please carefully read following information and proceed to enable your child’s access to the Amira service only if you agree to the practices outlined below.

Information We Collect

To get started with Amira, we will ask you to provide your name, email address, and billing information to set up your Amira account. We will also ask you to provide some information about your child, such as their first name (you can, but don’t have to, use their real name) and birth date. Please do not provide your child’s email address or full name.

After you have completed the account set-up process, you will need to download the Amira App and sign in with your account. After you sign in, your child can start using reading and tutoring experiences we offer through the Amira App. We will collect the following information from and about your child’s use of the Amira App:

• Voice utterances: As your child reads, we record their voice. These recordings enable our AI-driven algorithms to understand their reading strengths and areas where your child would benefit from more practice, evaluate their progress, and customize their experience. We also use these recordings to improve our AI models and the Amira service.
• Device identifiers: We also collect technical data about your child’s use of the services, such as their IP address and cookie information. 
• Other information about their use of the Amira service: We collect information about how your child uses the services, such as the stories they read, where they tap, and their progress and choices within the Amira service.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We use the information we collect from and about your child for the purposes of providing and improving the Amira App, including to provide you metrics and information about your child’s reading progress. We do not collect, maintain, use or share your child’s personal information beyond that needed to provide or improve our services and the Amira App. We do not use or disclose children’s information for behavioral targeting of advertisements. If you or your child communicates with us, we will use the information you or your child provides to respond to the inquiry.

How We Disclose the Information We Collect

We do not sell children’s personal information. We share children’s information with service providers who process it on our behalf. We also may share it for legal or compliance purposes, such as if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation or legal process or to protect our rights or the rights of others.

Your Rights

We will not collect, use, or disclose information from or about your child unless you consent by completing the account set-up process, and then proceed to download the Amira App and enable your child to start using the Amira App. You may request that personal information regarding your child be updated or deleted any time by emailing us at support@amiralearning.com.
