How does Amira help users respond to errors?

Amira displays error messages about common audio, system compatibility and other issues to help you manage troubleshooting. This article presents the error messages, their causes, and appropriate responses.

Non-Audio Errors

Amira displays an error when it is unable to launch an activity, due to an unusual circumstance (like slow wifi or a network glitch). Amira verbally prompts the student to get help. “Oops. We need help. Raise your hand so that your teacher will come help us.”

Response: Sign the student out of Amira and retry.

Browser Compatibility

Amira displays an error at student log in when it detects an unsupported browser or browser version.

Response: Switch to a supported browser or update the current browser to a supported version. Refer to Hardware: Computers, Network and Headsets to learn which browsers and devices are supported.

  • Verify there are no spaces before or after the user name and password, check the spelling of both, and enter again.
  • Copy and paste the user name and password directly from the welcome email (educators) or roster.

Audio Errors

Muted Microphone

Amira displays an alert when it detects a muted microphone and verbally prompts the student to get their teacher’s help. “Oops. We need help. Raise your hand so that your teacher will come help us.”

Response: If the microphone has a physical mute button, unmute it.

Disabled Microphone

Amira displays an alert as shown in the image on the left when it detects a disabled microphone and verbally prompts the student to get their teacher’s help, "Oops. We need help. Raise your hand so that your teacher will come help us.”

Response: Enabling a microphone varies by browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. Follow the links below to view complete instructions with images.

After you’ve enabled the microphone, click I’m ready on the message to continue.

Audio Error (non-microphone)
